trip 2009

I am not really putting these pages together this fast.....as they appear on the blog......I have over the past few weeks done a few and am putting up one a day....for a while til I run out..... the paper items and the journal "thingy" and the felt "snapshots" are all new items that are from a kit. I am getting the kits to help me get out of my comfy rut. now to just use them and not look at them and say....oh garsh these sure a neato.....and find them years later ...............untouched!!!!

2009 trip

i used shimmer mist stuff on the bubbles....if you look on the bear he was covered in bubbles in addition to the orcas.....I wanted to take this bear home......the journal folder was an experiment....I only attached the left side of the photo so that when the folder is opened the photo just "slides up" and does not bend.again....I have to learn about colors and my camera......the green paper .....well it is really not that color....it is the color on the bear ....so is the purple...that same as the bear that is.....

Tim Holtz

not even sure if it is ok to use names here but Tim Holtz is THE MAN! I finally got some alcohol inks.....whowzers!!!!! I sat during nap time the other day and played! It is almost mesmerizing how the inks spread...so....I embossed a sheet of plastic then used the inks....it was too cool.....then imbossed a tag and more inks and some versamark and stamping...and sanding of coures...then some inks on grunge paper..and some shimmer mists.....made this rose and the leaves.......and with all the experiments this card was born.....I just put them all together on a brown cardstock base..... in gold ink I even wrote "thank you" under the plastic on the card base so it is a real card.......wonder who will get this one?

this was the embellishment that to me....started out UGLY! (one, (there were only a total of two, this IS Wrangell) in the class loved it and had purchased it prior to the class in a different color, she also had taken it all apart) but I just thought it was the most unfortunate embellishment I had ever seen...........so in the times we are in it is about reusing, recycling.....taking those items that we cannot even remember purchasing, or were gifts and making them into something that we can enjoy......looking at things from a different side of the "creative box"

the class tonight

at Memories and More had a challange of using something in a new way. Actually it started with a card I saw on Splitcoaststampers.......http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ and the challange item was the embellishments. I have just started into my "glitter diva" stage. So glitter, sequins and such are so so out of my normal "creating box" that the item I chose took quite some time before I could think that it would ever be something I would enjoy. I ended up taking the item all apart and flipping over the flowers and cutting up some parts and adding some buttons and some ink and this is the result. The ladies took the idea and did some totally groovy things with it. The fun part of teaching a class is how many ideas I get from the directions I give them.....no matter how messed up I make the directions.

i keep doing this backwards

I do have to LEARN more.....I keep posting the inside after the outside........but that is sorta me anyway!!!

I am getting into this challange....

until my pictures get printed on Sat. anyway....then I will be back into pages....
the "vanilla" is a challange shade for me.......this one is technically called linen.....it is the crackle paint from Ranger. I applied it in swirls so it would kind of go with the embossed part. I found some more old sticker letters that totally matched the cardstock....which is by the way a seafoam sort of green.....layered it all over a darker chocolate card base. Used some new ribbon I found in Seattle last week end. ( I got a bunch of browns as I discovered I was weak in the brown embellishment and paper department) I think I got the neato metal embellishment from Katrina....... used crystal effects on the stickers and made them look "puffy"....after I took this picture I spread the crystal effects out with a pencil and it looks much better...

here it is

the inside.......
this is an old old sticker I had.....
these challanges are great for bringing out what-was-old-and-now-is-new-again!

now I like it

well I see how everyone gets into this "blogging".......its like having all yer pals around scrapbooking with you.........so I had a scrap of grunge that I had not cut into the flower "petals".....So I tested my SU punch and it took the grunge on like a pro.......added rub ons (really old ones) and made it dimensional.....
also finished the inside

just grunging around

as I wait for more pics of our trip to be printed....I am playing around with some new mediums.....right now my entire house smells grundgy! It is an odd smell but I like it! so I combined this months card club challange with the experimenting. Even brough out some old items.....like magic mesh...that is officially the white part of the challange.....I put crystal effects on two of the flowers on the ribbon. Love the distresser that SU has....used it on the blue paper....I have tried alot of different ways to distress but love the look that this tool gives.I painted, embossed, shimmer misted and inked the grunge for the flower....then cut, glued, bent and curled......I so so love this grunging........and I smooshed it as in an envelope.....and took it out and it stayed dimensional!!!! I wonder if I can grunge EVERYTHING!!!!! (purposfully NOT a question) P.S. I think I am going to cover the "thank you" and do it some other way........it is officially clear embossed....but really lacking something.......

saturday creations

this card I used my big shot and new embossing folder with writing on it....and then swiped an ink pad accross it....there is even a bit...a wee bit but a bit of glitter on the card....I sprayed the embossed part with home made glimmer mists
a simple thank you card with SU stamps and some simple masking
some fun experimenting with watercolor paper and masks.............still got a ways to go but for a first attempt I thought it was postable...
